INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING WITH C3?
Join the team of volunteers (18 and older) who contribute their time to help C3 to positively impact the future of the commercial construction industry by strengthening the safe, skilled, and sustainable craft workforce pipeline! Our volunteers are offered training, support, invitations to special volunteer appreciation events, and the opportunity to develop new skills and establish new professional connections!
AVAILABLE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
All volunteer opportunities are geared towards exceptional contractor engagement, and interaction with the public is an expectation of all volunteers. Below are different opportunities available. Volunteers can participate in as many opportunities as they qualify for. Please note that some of these options may require additional training and/or additional application processes after being accepted as a volunteer.
committee leadership team
Committees carry out the ongoing tasks and processes that keep the C3 running smoothly. They are considered the “backbone” of our collaboration. Committees increase the involvement and participation of accredited employers and allied organizations. A volunteer’s participation on a committee gives them enhanced knowledge of C3 and leadership experience, benefiting both C3 and the individual by building skills for future leadership positions. Committees function within the By-laws and policies of the C3. All committee chairs work with a C3 team member who provides guidance and serves as a liaison between the committee and the Board of Directors.
contractor outreach team
The industry outreach team partners with C3 staff to engaged Houston-area commercial construction companies that are not yet members of C3. A major role of these volunteers is to share the "C3 Pitch" and develop dialogue with non-C3 companies about the value of becoming accredited employers, including:
The next steps outreach team assist C3 in establishing great relationships with new accredited employers through various engagement activities, including:

Student outreach team
C3 is focused on enhancing the connection between the commercial construction industry and school CTE programs . However, with a changing workforce, more must be done to ensure CTE programs have the capacity to prepare each student to successful enter employment. It is critical that business and industry leaders play an active role by providing their expertise, time, and resources in true partnerships in order to deliver on the true promise of CTE programs to develop career pathways, especially to commercial construction. In order to maximize C3 capabilities in advancing a safer, high skilled, and sustainable workforce, we need your help as special event volunteers. Assignments will include assisting as event greeters, event registration, or helping out in one of the many zones that make up the event's infrastructure. In return for your time, you will be treated to engagement with student, teachers, and industry peers and receive an official event t-shirt, free parking, great refreshments, and access to annual volunteer-only events. The following lists our special events that take place annually:
volunteer leadership team
The C3 Speaker and Advocate Team consists of local commercial construction professionals whose experience categorizes them as subject matter experts. These industry experts graciously agree to volunteer their time (when needed) to local universities that are in need of panel members or guest speakers to add value and real-world perspective to training courses and special events. Speakers will be invited to participate (virtually or in-person) and speak to students and other professionals about their experience and perspective. The pool of speakers is intended to be a resource for the C3 team to quickly find subject matter experts within the field who are available to volunteer their time for speaking engagements in order to educate and inspire the next generation of commercial construction professionals. |

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does scheduling work? Will I be able to fit volunteering in if I work full time?
Volunteers are asked to commit to 40 hours annually. However, shifts are self-scheduled and throughout the day so you can decide what fits best with your availability. We recommend doing 6-7 hours per month in order to stay on track for your commitment. There are evening and virtual opportunities, but they are not offered consistently and should not be relied upon to make your commitment.
What are typical shift times? Are there evening or weekend opportunities?
There are volunteer opportunities available 7 days a week and volunteers are welcome to sign up for weekdays, weekends, or both!
Is everyone who applies accepted as a volunteer?
As amazing as it would be to accept assistance from every person who applies, we screen all volunteers before acceptance. We look for people who are flexible, positive, want to have fun, and make an impact on the industry, no matter what volunteer opportunity they undertake.
Volunteers willing to do a variety of duties to help support the C3's mission are what we need. Enjoying interacting with employers and other professionals is essential for you to thrive as a volunteer.
So, be honest in your application and tell us why you would be an amazing addition to our volunteer family!
